What is an archaeological site?

  • It is a place or group of place that shows evidence of past human activity.
  • They can be on land or under water.
  • They can be hidden to the untrained eye, as they may be buried by centimetres or even metres of dirt.
  • Sites are non-renewable resources. Once they are destroyed there is no way to recover the information that was lost.
